Step 1: Introduction
You will be performing part or all of Act I, Scene 2, from The Taming of the Shrew by William Shakespeare. Think about the oral interpretation and expression you used when you read the scene.
Your Assignment:
You will present a scene from Shakespeare. Be sure to
• Work collaboratively to prepare and present all or part of a scene from
Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew.
• Work collaboratively to make meaning of the text.
• Look for clues in the text that show how the characters would act. Model those actions In your performance.
• Create and revise a performance plan presentation.
• Plan a clear beginning, middle, and end for your presentation.
• Review and rehearse your presentation.
• Speak clearly, loudly, and slowly, with expression.
• Convey meanings of unfamiliar words.
• Maintain eye contact.
Step 2: Brainstorming
Now you are ready to start thinking about how you will plan the presentation of the scene from The Taming of the Shrew. Work in small groups to go over the text carefully. Brainstorm ideas for the performance using the graphic organizer below.
