Will you please explain why you read the character’s line that way?
Step 3: Planning
Decide how your group is going to prepare to perform the scene. Which section of the scene will you perform? Will one of you act as the director, or will you share director duties? How can you fairly divide the speaking parts so that everyone gets a chance to perform?
Work with your group to talk about ideas you have for the scene. Discussing your ideas with your group will help you to answer any questions that you may have. Record notes from your discussion.
Use the graphic organizer below to begin to record your ideas.

Step 4: Practicing
Use your completed graphic organizer and brainstorming document to help you as you begin to practice your lines. Remember that you should practice your scene multiple times, using the skills that you have learned in this unit to help you. Make annotations to your script based on the decisions that you make.
Before you begin practicing, review the scoring guide with your group so that you understand how your scene will be assessed. Ask your group members questions if you do not understand any of part of the scoring guide.
