Revise a Short Narrative
In small groups, take turns reading aloud your short narratives from Activity 2.5. Work together to revise your text to include at least one complex sentence and one compound sentence. Underline and label your new sentences. Refer to the model and the Language Resources: Connecting Words box on page 24 for support.

In the fall, our school had its first 5K run. Early that morning, I strapped on my running sneakers and headed over to the school with my mom, dad, and sister. Our teeth chattered in the cold, but we warmed up quickly once we started running in the cool autumn air. The course looped through the playground and down two hilly blocks to the brick firehouse. When I was finished, my legs felt like wet noodles!
