Planning a Narrative Poem
Use the graphic organizer to plan your own narrative poem, following a narrative text structure. Think about what might happen next in the poem. What will the narrator say or do? What might the raven say or do? What mood will your stanza convey? Make notes to the questions that follow.

Narrative Poem Writing Prompt
Write a draft of your narrative poem stanza. Be sure to:
■ Include a plot event in which something happens or changes.
■ Write from the first person point of view and include details about the narrator’s feelings.
■ Use language that includes poetic devices and imagery to create a specific mood for your stanza. ■ Try to end the stanza by having the raven say something.
