Tips for Presenting
Tips for Listening
Keep these points in mind as you are presenting:
• Speak loudly and clearly.
• Maintain eye contact with your
audience.
• Listen respectfully to any questions from your audience.
• Respond thoughtfully to questions.
As your classmates present, be an active listener:
• Take notes.
• Pay attention to how the speaker’s voice rises and falls and what words he or she emphasizes. A speaker’s tone will help you better understand his or her argument.
• Listen for the speaker’s claim, supporting evidence, and call to action.
• Jot down any questions you may have for the presenter.
