Present a Narrative
Now that you have analyzed and evaluated pronouns and point of view in “The Jacket,” write two versions of a brief narrative in which you describe something that happened at school recently. First, write your narrative in the third-person point of view, as though you are writing about yourself as a character in a story. Use third-person pronouns: “He/she arrived late to school that morning.” Write your narrative a second time, using the first-person point of view and first-person pronouns: “I arrived late to school that morning.” Read each of your narratives aloud, and ask your listeners to identify which point of view was more effective. Use the following space to write your narratives.
