Providing Details to an argument
The author of America the Not-So-Beautiful argues that we are poisoning the earth with our wastefulness. He provides details throughout the article which support his argument. In this activity, you will identify, analyze, and evaluate the evidence from the text.
Skim through America the Not-So-Beautiful, looking for examples of where Rooney provides details to his argument. Write one detail in each column in the chart. Then analyze each example to determine if it is effective in his argument.
