Write a short Argument
After analyzing character details in Walk Two Moons, you have enough information to write a short argument. Choose one set of character details from your chart. Write a short argument in which you explain the characters are similar or different in your topic sentence, state your opinion, and give a reason why in your commentary. Before writing, read the model short argument provided. Notice what information is in each of the four sentences. Try structuring your argument in the same way.

The narrator uses character details such as “a quiet girl who stayed mostly to herself” to describe Phoebe. Sal, the narrator, explains that she waves at Phoebe but Phoebe does not wave back, which shows that she is unlike her. These character details show the reader character traits of Phoebe and Sal. In my opinion, this character details are effective because they make the reader understand how the two characters are different.
