Step 1: Introduction
You will be writing your own expository essay similar to others you have read in this unit such as “Dogs Make Us Human.” Think about the central idea of that essay and the details that authors Temple Grandin and Catherine Johnson used to support the idea.
Expository Essay Writing Prompt:
You will write an expository essay about an important topic that you know about. Be sure to
• State a strong thesis statement with a central idea.
• Include supporting details and evidence.
• Use a variety of dependent and independent clauses.
• Use transitions to add details about the central idea.
• End your expository paragraph by restating your thesis.
