Transitions for adding Details
The authors of “Dogs Make Us Human” use transitions, or connecting words, to add details to their writing. In this activity, you will identify, analyze, and evaluate transitions for adding details to support the central idea.
Skim through “Dogs Make Us Human” to identify sentences that use transitions to add details. Write four examples in the chart. Then analyze each example to understand the effect the authors are trying to create. Finally, think of another transition that could be used. Refer to the Language Resources list to help you.
