Task and Reader Considerations
Students identify details that make up a high level comedy and analyze how Barry conveys a truth about life through humor. Students demonstrate an understanding of this text by citing specific textual evidence when answering text-dependent questions, using textual evidence to support their analysis of the author’s purpose and tone, creating Levels of Questions, and using specific examples from the text to support a response to an expository writing prompt.
Considerations regarding the motivation and experience of the reader should be made at the classroom level.
