• Develop language resources to use while speaking and writing about a short story.
Cognates • Use an expanded set of words to speak and write precisely. The English word protagonist •
and the Spanish word Adjust language choices to suit the academic setting. protagonista are cognates. They
both mean “the main actor” and come from the Greek roots protos, meaning “first,” and agonistes, meaning “actor” or “competitor.”
