Suggested Pacing: 2 50-minute class periods
1 Use think-pair-share to have students respond to the quotes.
Ask students to quickwrite and complete the graphic organizer on the role of research and the research process. They conducted some research in Unit 2 and will have some prior experience. Based on their experience and understanding from Unit 2, you may need to give examples and explanations and have students take notes.

1. Read and respond to the following quotes by Bernard M. Baruch, American financial expert and presidential advisor (1870–1965):
